Lacuna co-founder, Allison Warburton has been recognised as a finalist in the Executive of The Year category at the Lawyer’s Weekly Women in Law Awards.
The award recognises female executives leading thriving businesses in the legal market.
In 2019, after a long career as a partner in a large law firm, Allison took a leap of faith and co-founded Lacuna Legal Providers to meet a market need for sole practitioners, boutiques and mid-tier firms to have access to high quality business support and administration services.
Having experienced the pressures of a career in big-law, Allison wanted to find another way to help senior lawyers reap the benefit of their investment in their career, rather than walk away from it. From the outset, Allison’s vision was clear – to support lawyers in maintaining a rewarding and satisfying legal career as well as enjoying their lives outside the law.
Drawing on her experience in private practice as well as her experience in commercial board roles, Allison has driven the strategy for Lacuna’s market focus and growth, and in just two short years, the start-up company has grown from a team of two with an empty client list to a team of four with nearly 20 core retainer and project based clients.
The offering by Lacuna has expanded from business support and administration services to include business development and marketing services, specialised bids and proposals, digital marketing expertise and executive coaching support.
On being recognised for the award, Allison said “I am incredibly proud that our innovative proposition has been embraced by the growing independent legal market and has filled a gap (a lacuna!) in the sector.”
When asked about Lacuna’s future plans, Allison said “Having successfully proved the business model, Lacuna is now poised to scale up and deliver services to lawyers around Australia and internationally. The next phase of our growth will involve active brand promotion, further expansion of our range of services, and the introduction of commoditised products in addition to the existing personalised services.”
